What you need to know.
We review every policy before it renews to make sure you have the right coverage at the best possible price. Here's what to expect and how you can help.
Do I need to do anything for my renewal?
Often, very little. Many renewals are handled with minimal input from you. However, life and business changes can affect your coverage and premium, so it's important we know what's new. Please let us know if you've had any of the following changes:
Personal Insurance
- Moved or changed your mailing address
- Purchased, sold, or replaced a vehicle
- Added or removed a driver
- Change in marital status
- Home renovations, additions, or major updates (new roof, HVAC, security system, etc.)
- Purchased high-value items (jewelry, firearms, collectibles, art, electronics)
- Started a home-based business
- Acquired a boat, RV, motorcycle, golf cart, or other recreational vehicle
Commercial Insurance
- Opened or closed a location
- Purchased or sold vehicles or equipment
- Added new services or operations
- Changes in payroll, revenue, or employee count
- Added subcontractors
- Expanded into new states
- Any claims or incidents
Even if nothing has changed, a quick review helps ensure your policy stays accurate and competitive.
Why did my renewal premium increase?
Premium increases are common and don't always mean something changed on your policy. Insurance rates are influenced by broader market conditions. Common reasons include:
- Rising costs of vehicle repairs and parts
- Higher medical and liability claim costs
- Increased construction and labor costs for homes and buildings
- More frequent or severe weather events in your area
- Inflation
- Industry-wide rate adjustments
- Changes in your insurance score or rating factors
In many cases, premiums go up even for claim-free customers. Our job is to review your options and find the best balance of coverage, service, and price.
What does "shopping" or "remarketing" mean?
Shopping (or remarketing) means we compare your current renewal with quotes from multiple insurance companies to see if better options are available. During this process we:
- Review your current coverage
- Verify your information for accuracy
- Request competitive quotes
- Compare price, coverage, and carrier strength
- Look for available discounts
- Recommend improvements where needed
Our goal isn't just to find the cheapest policy — it's to find the best value for you.
When will I hear from you?
We typically begin the renewal review 30–60 days before your policy expires. Here's the usual timeline:
- 45–60 days before renewal: Initial review starts. We may reach out for updated information.
- 30–45 days before renewal: We receive your current carrier's renewal terms and begin comparing options.
- 15–30 days before renewal: We finalize recommendations and contact you if action is needed.
- Before renewal date: You receive clear recommendations, quotes, or confirmation.
If you haven't heard from us as your renewal date approaches, please call — we're happy to give you a status update.
What information do you need from me?
The more accurate the information we have, the better the quotes and coverage we can secure.
For Personal Policies, we may ask for:
- Current driver's license information
- Vehicle details (VINs, mileage, etc.)
- Home improvement or renovation details
- Updated contact and occupancy information
- Details on boats, RVs, jewelry, collectibles, etc.
For Commercial Policies, we may request:
- Current payroll and revenue figures
- Employee and subcontractor counts
- Vehicle and equipment schedules
- Loss runs (claims history)
- Any operational or location changes
If you're unsure whether something is relevant, share it anyway. We'd rather have too much information than too little.
Is it safe to submit my information?
Yes. We use secure, industry-standard portals and encryption to protect your information. Best practices:
- Always submit information through our approved forms or client portal
- Avoid emailing sensitive details when possible
- Contact us immediately if you suspect any compromise
Your privacy is a top priority. We only use your information for insurance purposes.
Will my coverage lapse while you're reviewing?
Usually not. Most carriers issue a renewal offer before expiration, and coverage continues as long as the premium is paid on time.
That said, some policies require additional information or underwriting. We'll contact you promptly if anything is needed to keep your coverage seamless. If you ever have concerns about your renewal status, call us right away.
Still have questions?
We're here to help. Our team is happy to review your policy, answer your questions, and make sure you have the right coverage for what matters most.
